The Story of E&B Distributors ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

E&B Distributors founders, Sidney and Josh Skowronek, grew up in Somerville, New Jersey during the Great Depression.  Both served the armed forces during World War II, and decided to go into the coal business together after returning to civilian life. They founded Consumers Coal & Fuel and their first location was near the Somerville railroad because coal could be off loaded from rail cars.

 Josh Skowronek became a licensed plumber and Consumers Plumbing and Heating’s plumbing crews helped build many of  Bridgewater’s houses in the 1950’s , 60’s and 70”s.  As a plumbing contractor he was using so much material that he began to buy in truck loads and found a warehouse to store the products.

In 1967 the Skowronek brothers founded a new company, and named it for their wives initials—Esther and Bernice. E&B Distributors was small for the first ten years, but by 1980 E&B Distributors had built their first plumbing fixtures showroom in an upstairs room in their warehouse.  The Elegant Baths Showroom’s displays of vanities, tubs, whirlpools, faucets and toilets were popular.  The showroom was so successful that it was expanded to the  front of the building on the main floor and with much better visibility to the public driving on the Somerville Traffic Circle.

Due to the reconstruction of the Traffic Circle in 1991, E&B Distributors relocated to the intersection of Interstate 287 North and Route 22 East. 

The Elegant Baths Showroom was rebuilt in a 2000 square foot space, and thru the next ten years was expanded two times to finally occupy 6000 square feet.

Road construction planned for Route 22 and Chimney Rock Road again forced E&B Distributors to relocate in 2007.  The remodeling project of this building at 400 Route 22 East won praise for its adaptive reuse of an older manufacturing site.

Welcome to the newest and the best yet, of E&B Distributors Elegant Baths Showrooms!  The range of products for the bath has grown tremendously over the past 25 years. In response we now have tile for walls and floors, lighting fixtures, and medicine cabinets in addition to the vanities, tubs, showers and faucets we have offered since the inception of Elegant Baths Showroom. In the kitchen we have seen the transition to undermount kitchen sinks complimented by pullout spray faucets. While some brands have been with us since the beginning, there are many new companies offering exciting products to our customers.
